This tool provides an overview of the complex issues of use of psychotropic medication use in adults with IDD. It provides detailed recommendations for safe and effective use of psychotropic medication in this population.

The Behavioural and Mental Health Working Group of the Developmental Disabilities Primary Care Initiative (2011), chaired by Dr. Elspeth Bradley, Surrey Place  Centre, Toronto

The Developmental Disabilities Primary Care Program is currently in the process of updating this 2011 practice resource to reflect the Primary care of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities: 2018 Canadian consensus guidelines (Canadian Family Physician, Vol 64: April 2018). Updated practice resources are scheduled to be launched in October 2018.
